Is it Fall yet?

As we walked outside this morning Mini Red exclaimed "Mommy It's Winter! I can see my breath!" I said, "It's not Winter yet but Fall is definitely coming in."

Ahh Fall. I'm looking forward to it. Last October I went to California for the first time, on business. I hadn't realized what perfect weather they have. If I lived there I would definitely own a convertible, how could you not? But this morning, for the first time I realized how much I love the change of seasons and always looking forward to the next.

Halloween is coming and I can't wait to take Mini Red to the Pumpkin Patch and maybe we'll make it to Punkin Chunkin this year. As the weather gets colder the turtle necks come out and the big blankets and this means cozying up on the couch with Mini Red.

We caught the end of the show Dirty Jobs the other night. At the end the host, Mike Rowe, steps outside the building where he's been working to say a few words. When he did it was snowing! I couldn't help but yearn for it.

It's hard to say what my favorite season is. I love the snow in the Winter, the weather warming up in the Spring, the beach in the Summer and the cooling off on the Fall.

What's your favorite season?

  1. It's close for me too. It's probably either fall or winter. Winter brings snow, but also the end of soccer season so I'm not sure which way to go...

Either way, the cooler seasons have it all over the warm ones if you ask me.

  2. Fall. Definitely fall. Nothing beats the crisp air that reminds me of back to school and starting a "new year." I don't feel that new year feeling on Dec 31, I feel it now, mid Sept when it gets to 40 overnight.

After Fall, it's Summer. Then Winter. Then Spring (allergies - ick.)

  3. Out here in wonderful, no snow, low humidity, Bar-B-Q on Christmas Day, Southern California we have different seasons. We start the New Year with the rainy season, then go to baseball/softball/soccer season. This is followed by beach season which dove tails nicely into football/soccer season which also coincides with forest fire season.

The problem with the convertible is the ash from the fires gets into everything

  5. Red,

So when you think about it longer, what is your favorite season?

You have to have a favorite. Not favorites.

Mine is Winter. Because when I think about it, I could conjure up more memories from winter than any other season. It's an easy season to remember. Lol.

  6. I just want spring and summer all year round. Fall is too cold for me, let alone winter, in PA. I'd move out of here in a heartbeat if it weren't for both of our families living here.

  8. I've always said Fall is my favorite and probably still is.
I loved the weather in CA (Ventura), not too hot and not to cold so it's easy to stay active all year long. I love going to Ocean City beach in the summer because it's relaxing.
But Fall just seems to bring the best memories. Cider, wine tastings, Football, Hockey and all sorts of festivals.

  10. Rain is better in the summer. Warm rain not cold, so you can just take your shoes off and run through it.
    I'm sleepy now.

  11. The reason fall is the best is that it is still warm enough to be outside yet there is no humidity and little rain. Days are balmy and nights crisp. And the glorious autumn leaves. People rave about the beautiful weather in places like San DIego, but who wants the same weather all the time? After a while you cease to appreciate it. People in places with variable weather feel a sense of elation when it's a beautiful day after a spate of miserable ones that I don't think they would feel if it was just one more day, in a line of endless days, of sun and 75. Or so it says here.

    you could drive with

  13. I love the changing of the seasons too but fall is indeed my favorite season. I love the crisp air and wearing comfy hoodies and sweat shirts. Oh and Halloween is my favorite holiday. I love dressing up even as an adult. :)
